Job Description Summary
The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for managing the daily operations of the club sport and the recruitment of student-athletes. Duties also include fundraising calendering facilities maintaining of budgets and over-all teaching and supervision of athletes. This position will have campus security authority ( CSA ) related responsibilities under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act which is a federal law requiring disclosure of information about crimes on and around campus
Responsibilities
Teach coach practice and condition student athletes. Teach sport fundamentals and game strategies. Foster an educational and developmentally enriching environment for student-athletes to thrive and grow. Recruit motivate and retain student athletes. Will work with administrators to determine student-athlete roster size limits. Work with our athletic training staff on the health and safety needs of our student athletes. Manage and communicate a yearlong calendar. Develop daily practice plans develop and oversee a schedule. This includes providing safe and responsible travel to and from away competitions. Develop and manage an annual budget and oversee expenditures. Manage and maintain program facility including partnering with others in the department to share common facility spaces. Responsible for collaborating with university units to foster athletic academic emotional physical and social growth. Working with financial aid medical services academic support judicial affairs psychological services student-athletes services international programs and compliance. Mandatory Campus Security Authority and Title IX Mandatory Reporters. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience in coaching the assigned sport at the collegiate or high school levels is required. Strong organizational and communication skills. Technical expertise in the assigned sport. Understanding that the academic commitment of athletes at Chapman University takes priority over other commitments including participation in sports. CPR & First Aid Certification
