Job Description

Job Description Summary
Provides instruction in Electrical Systems Technology in correctional facilities and at other college designated sites as needed.

Duties
1. Supports equity in all aspects. 2. Supports the Colleges Mission Vision Values and RISE Statement. 3. Maintains mastery of subject matter. 4. Develops and teaches courses for which the appropriate credential is held in accordance with College policies procedures and best practices. 5. Teaches assigned courses in various formats locations and modalities. 6. Adheres to all policies procedures and expectations of the College department and discipline. 7. Communicates clearly with students other faculty staff administrators and prison personnel. 8. Follows all College and correctional facility safety procedures. Participate in emergency drills scheduled by the college. 9. Utilizes the College-supported Learning Management System ( LMS ) to deliver instruction. Ensures courses are accessible in the LMS by the published start date maintain timely and consistent updates to the gradebook submit final grades by registrar deadlines and close LMS courses after final grades are posted. 10. Enforces Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct. 11. Assists with program reviews program accreditation and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate. 12. Attends meetings and events and actively participate on committees and taskforces as assigned. 13. Attends the annual commencement ceremony. 14. Evaluates student progress in a fair consistent and timely manner. 15. Advises students as assigned and in accordance with college policies and procedures. 16. Meets annual professional development requirements. 17. Collaborates on departmental initiatives such as textbook selection material revision and lab/shop upkeep. 18. Adheres to policies procedures expectations and practices of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety ( NCDPS ) and North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections ( NCDAC ). 19. Coordinates and adheres to NCDPS and NCDAC policies and procedures related to bringing equipment and materials into or out of correctional facilities. 20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
1. NC Electricians License 2. Experience teaching at a community college particularly with at-risk populations diverse student backgrounds and/or those who are incarcerated. 3. NCCER Certifications 4. OSHA Authorized Trainer 5. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish an East Slavic language and/or American Sign Language.
