Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA youth aged 16-29 through mental health services social programs and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre offering barrier-free counselling hot meals and community programming and a Transitional Home providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role


As an Intake Student you will be responsible for:

  • Waitlist Coordination & Participant Tracking: Manage effective communication with youth on the waitlist maintain
    accurate records and support the organization and follow-up of participant needs.
  • Resource Development & Analysis: Identify verify and expand community resource listings by gathering internal knowledge researching external supports and addressing service gaps.
  • Community Outreach & Engagement: Support outreach activities by identifying opportunities and participating in events community engagement efforts and promotional material distribution.
  • Administrative & Data Management: Assist with intake processes data entry document digitization and ensure accurate confidential record-keeping using the TREAT system.
  • Service Delivery & Intake Process Understanding: Gain hands-on experience by observing and supporting client interactions learning intake protocols triage procedures and how services are delivered.



What You Bring


  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary university or college program. Working toward a degree or diploma in Social Work Social Service Work Community Services or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Basic knowledge of community resources social services and youth support systems.
  • Interest in working with 2SLGBTQIA youth and a strong commitment to equity diversity inclusion and anti-oppression anti-racism and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping database entry and document management.
  • Comfortable with basic computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Office); familiarity with client databases (e.g. TREAT) is an asset.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
