Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Gambling Counsellor to join our team as part of the GambleAware program based in Goulburn NSW.
This program provides free confidential and non-judgmental counselling and support for individuals families and community members concerned about their own or someone elses gambling.
As a Gambling Counsellor you will deliver specialist therapeutic interventions via face-to-face telephone and online methods. You will support individuals couples families and groups offering services such as gambling-specific counselling multi-venue self-exclusion assistance and access to tailored information and strategies to address gambling harm.
Applicants must hold a relevant degree in psychology or counselling and current membership of a relevant peak professional body or association.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide therapeutic counselling to individuals couples families and groups affected by gambling harm via face-to-face telephone and online modalities.
- Develop implement and regularly review individualised treatment plans based on clients needs and goals.
- Deliver services in line with the program framework including intake assessment and evidence-based interventions.
- Facilitate group support sessions to address gambling harm in the community.
- Respond to referrals promptly and make appropriate internal and external referrals to support clients holistically.
- Maintain accurate confidential client records and data in line with funding requirements.
Requirements for Success
- Degree in Psychology or Counselling.
- Current membership of a relevant peak professional body or association.
- Proven experience in therapeutic counselling including assessment case planning and the delivery of individual couple family and group sessions across face-to-face phone and online settings.
- A strong understanding of gambling-related harm and the challenges experienced by affected individuals and families.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement tailored treatment plans supporting client recovery and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Current NSW drivers license
Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
