Assistant Junior High Corss Country Coach

Seeking an assistant coach for the junior-high cross country program starting in August 2025 at Liberty Common Junior High School in Fort Collins Colorado a Poudre School District charter school. LCJHS is Northern Colorados clearest path to college delivering a college-preparatory classically-oriented liberal-arts curriculum in a small-school environment. The school currently enrolls approximately 1500 students in grades K-12 and competes as a member of the NPMLA for grades 6-8.

The assistant coach will report directly to the head coach. Applicants should be dedicated to providing the best student-athlete experience through experienced coaching in the sport of distance running. The successful candidate will be committed to the mission and goals of Liberty Common High School and follow all NPMLA league procedures and policies.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Stipend Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular Part-time

WORK HOURS: Varies

PAY RANGE: $1200.00

REPORTS TO: Head Coach

REVISION DATE: June 19 2025

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with and knowledge of distance running.
• Ability to run a minimum of three (3) miles pace irrelevant.
• Full background check required for hire.
• CPR and first aid certified or able to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Characteristics

• Technical knowledge of cross country and experience working with student-athletes.
• Experience scheduling planning and coordinating activities for a wide range of student athletes.
• A proven verifiable record of placing appropriate emphasis on academic excellence good sportsmanship and character development.

Job Duties:

• Running with 6^th-8^th grade student athletes on a daily basis conducting basic warm-up stretching and core-strengthening activities.
• Working with student-athletes to develop virtue skills knowledge and athleticism in the sport of cross country.
• Communicating with parents officials athletes and coaches
• Working with coaching staff to implement training and game plans.

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to move safely in athletic workspaces;
• The ability to lift 30 pounds or more when needed.

Compensation:

• Stipend begins at at $1200.00(possibly higher based on background experience and/or institutional alignment).
• Enrollment in Colorados Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and employer contributions to your PERA retirement account.
• Earned sick leave in accord with Colorados Healthy Families and Workplaces (HFWA) Act.
