Patient Access Associate
UnityPoint Health-Fort Dodge
Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm
The Patient Access Associate is responsible for obtaining accurate and thorough demographic and financial information for each patient visit. Ensures that appropriate signatures financial information and precertification requirements are secured. Screens for benefit eligibility on appropriate accounts. Informs/educates patients that have not been pre-registered of their financial responsibility reviewing deductibles coinsurance allowable and copayments. An estimate is developed and reviewed with each patient. Collection process is initiated and posted to the patients account.

Greets and escorts new patients and guests while demonstrating positive customer service skills.
Answers telephone calls and makes calls for patients and guests.
Maintains and orders supplies.
Completes registration interviews with patients including insurance verification
Performs Point of Service Collections by requesting estimated liabilities copays and deposits.
Processes and posts patient payments on accounts after collecting cash check or credit card payment.
Prepares patient charts including labels wristbands information flexes and other forms used by patient care team.
Explains and has patients sign treatment consents and required billing documents.
Calls and/or faxes for insurance pre-certification and authorization for inpatient and outpatient services when needed.
Obtains and transcribes orders for patients.
Education:
High School Graduate.
Previous customer service experience
Experience:
Data entry and typing. Hospital experience or business training helpful.
