The job of Vehicle Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the availability of District vehicles and grounds equipment in safe operating condition including determining needed repairs and/or replacements; performing required repairs and preventative maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meetDistrict State and Federal requirements.
Essential Functions
- Adjusts parts and/or components
- Diagnoses potential equipment malfunctions e.g. school buses shop vehicles food service trucks tractors trenchers forklifts grounds equipment etc.
- Maintains tools equipment and shop area
- Monitors fuel storage
- Prepares documentation e.g. records of repairs maintenance logs etc.
- Procures equipment supplies and materials
- Repairs systems/components etc.
- Replaces all defective parts; transportsvarious items to schools e.g. mowers supplies chairs tables etc.
- Assists other trades as may be required e.g. welding duties etc.
Qualifications:
- Job related experience within specialized field is required.
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Drivers License-Class B with passenger Endorsement.
- Air And Brake Endorsement.
- Random drug testing.
- Pre-placement Physical Exam.
- First Aid/CPR Certification within 4 months.
- Freon Recovery Recycling Certificate.
- Targeted job related education that meets organizations prerequisite requirements.
This is a 12-month position.
