About the role:
Head of Private Credit and Alternative Investments will lead the ongoing management of the private credit and alternative investment (PC/AI) portfolio as well as sourcing and underwriting for new investments which will be focused in private credit. This role will report to the Chief Investment Officer and will develop and execute strategies aligned with the companys risk-adjusted return objectives capital and liquidity needs and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in private credit a broad understanding of alternative asset classes and experience navigating insurance company investment constraints.
The Head of Private Credit and Alternative Investments will:
- Develop and oversee PartnerRes private credit and alternative investment strategy with a focus on developing and expanding the private credit portfolio.
- Manage existing investments in the PC/AI portfolio. This includes reporting and analysis on portfolio and position performance engaging with managers to monitor fund/investment developments representing PartnerRe in LPAC meetings and analyzing/recommending actions for specific investments.
- Enhance investment strategy for the PC/AI portfolio within strategic asset allocation guidelines including recommending sub-asset class allocations to optimize portfolios return profile within various regulatory capital liquidity and risk constraints.
- Evaluate select and recommend investment strategies and third-party investment managers/funds for inclusion into the PC/AI portfolio.
- Lead due diligence processes on potential investments including financial analysis risk evaluation legal review and ESG considerations.
- Partner with Accounting Finance Risk Tax and Legal to understand/communicate treatment of new and existing investments.
- Contribute to financial planning process by forecasting investment returns from the PC/AI portfolio and tracking/explaining actual returns and variances.
- Provide regular reporting to the CIO on the performance of the portfolio and specific positions. Prepare materials and analysis for the board regulators and internal business partners.
Qualifications :
About you:
- 10 years of relevant investment experience
- Deep knowledge of private markets insurance investment constraints and portfolio construction
- Demonstrated ability to lead deal sourcing underwriting and execution of complex investments
- Experience managing and selecting external managers
- Familiarity with insurance investing including accounting ALM capital and regulatory frameworks
- Collaborative team player who engages with colleagues on the investment team and other internal and external business partners
- Advanced degree (MBA MS Finance) and/or CFA designation strongly preferred
- Strategic thinker with excellent investment judgment
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously properly prioritize and make informed decisions based on ambiguous information
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to simplify complex issues and explain to broad audiences.
