The Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science (Ritchie School) houses three departments and offers six undergraduate degrees along with several graduate programs. Our small classes engaged faculty and atmosphere of experimentation and collaboration offer our students a multi-dimensional education that prepares them to excel and innovate in science and technology. The Ritchie School is also home to Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA) which is an interdisciplinary initiative using science engineering and technology to help early detection and treatment ofaging and age-related conditions.

Position Summary

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Denver (DU) is building an academically and culturally diverse faculty and staff who teach and work in a supportive environment surrounded by people with a strong commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Essential Functions

We invite applications for two full-time non-tenure-track faculty positions as a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor in Computer Science with particular interest in applicants who have strengths in algorithms artificial intelligence games and security and privacy. The positions are for the 2025-2026 academic year and begin on September 1 2025. The appointments will be made for nine-month positions only.

Required Qualifications

  • A Masters degree in Computer Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Teaching experience in a college or university setting.
  • Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science as evidenced by background or teaching experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departmental school and university researchers.
  • Evidence indicating the potential for integration of DEI into teaching research or service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or terminal degree in Computer Science or related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Experience working on inter-disciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.
  • Evidence of integrating DEI into teaching research or service.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations and historically underrepresented groups in computer science.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $80000-$100000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
