Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Macalester College a highly selective liberal arts college seeks to hire an Assistant Mens Basketball Coach to work with the head coach to direct and lead all phases of a successful and competitive NCAA Division III Program. This is a full-time twelve month position that reports to the Head Womens Basketball Coach evening and weekend hours are required.

About The Department:

The Macalester College Athletic Department fosters a supportive challenging environment for student-athletes emphasizing both academic and athletic excellence. As an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (MIAC) the department prioritizes competitive success developmental growth and community engagement. The department is committed to providing a holistic well-rounded experience for student-athletes to excel in their sport while preparing them for success beyond Macalester.

• Practice and Competition: Assists with the organization and preparation of practices and training sessions. Supports competitive strategies and makes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and competition.
• Coordinates travel logistics and supports game-day preparation and set-up
• Recruiting: Assists with the development and execution of a comprehensive recruiting plan. Serves as an effective recruiter aligned with Macalester MIAC and NCAA guidelines to build competitive rosters.
• Athletic Facilities: Provides departmental support in areas related to athletic facilities student support and student programming.
• Student Support: Works with various departments across campus to support the student-athlete experience and build a positive team-oriented work environment.
• Other Responsibilities: Completes other responsibilities as assigned. Participates as an active member of the team. Participates in department and college activities and supports implementation of shared goals and initiatives. Provides backup support to other members of the team.

• Bachelors Degree required
• Valid drivers license required
• 1-3 years of successful coaching experience required. College coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable in Womens Basketball practice and training modes competitive strategies and an effective sustained and results oriented recruiting program. Creates a positive organized and enriching experience for the student athletes and staff involved in the program. General understanding of Womens Basketball metrics and ability to implement them in training and matches.
• General proficiency in current office computer technology including admissions and recruitment software and digital media platforms.
• Management and organization of recruiting records and all information necessary for the operations of the program.
• Represent the Womens Basketball program and the institution in a positive manner to alumni donors media and the community. Participate in fundraising activities to support the programs needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with student-athletes parents and college staff.

Compensation:

The annual salary for this position will be $50625 - $52926 depending on experience.
