Overview of Position
At Casa Esperanza the Exceptional Children (EC) Director is a team leader who is responsible for maintaining state and federal compliance standards. Additionally the director creates a program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aids accommodations and other needed supports.

- Preferred experience working with students with disabilities for at least 3 years
- EC Director should hold a degree in special education and have passed required state licensure exams for K-8 instruction in Special Education
- Ability to coordinate various service delivery schedules and maintain comprehensive documentation with professionalism
- Supervise and guide EC teachers and related service professionals in effective instruction
- Demonstrate a desire to engage in reflective instructional practices
- Assist EC and general education teachers with ECATS use and training
- Ensure EC Files are maintained and meet compliance guidelines for referral eligibility annual and triennial reviews
- Monitor and report student progress (i.e. progress reports IEP meetings parent teacher conferences)
- Collaborate with EC Teachers/Case managers regarding compliance standards
- Submit exit counts head counts and indicator reports as applicable throughout the year
- Submission in collaboration with the Finance Director portions of the IDEA grant
- Coordinate and facilitate referral eligibility annual IEP and transition meetings
- Coordinate and monitor implementation of EC and related services
- Establish and maintain collaborative communication with appropriate school administration faculty parents and staff
- Participate in professional development to improve practices and stay abreast of compliance and/or legal requirements for EC Programs and service delivery
Supervision
- Reports to - (Head of School) Executive Director
- Reporting to this position - EC Teachers and related service providers working with students in the EC program
