Our client is seeking experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) to deliver high-quality medical care within a correctional healthcare environment. Working under the supervision of the facility physician the ARNP will provide comprehensive patient care support treatment planning and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet the complex health needs of the inmate/resident population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary and urgent care including exams diagnoses treatment and health maintenance.
- Order evaluate and interpret diagnostic tests to assess and manage clinical conditions.
- Prescribe and recommend medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of licensure.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Document all encounters interventions and treatment outcomes in electronic medical records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when clinically appropriate.
- Support medical program operations including audits compliance checks and service quality evaluations.
- Participate in safety initiatives and help ensure proper sanitation of medical equipment and work areas.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with medical staff correctional officers contract providers and outside healthcare agencies.
- Deliver health education and counseling to individuals and groups as needed.
- Respond to medical emergencies and perform rescue functions including administering basic life support.
- Support compliance with accreditation standards (e.g. NCCHC ACA JCAHO) and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in staff meetings and interdisciplinary committees to support health services delivery and operational efficiency.
- Maintain situational awareness and respond effectively to potentially volatile or high-stress environments.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current licensure and/or certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in the state of employment.
- Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience (correctional or emergency care experience a plus).
- Certification or training in Family Practice is preferred.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Strong clinical judgment documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a secure high-pressure setting and respond calmly and efficiently in emergencies.
- Comfortable working on rotating shifts and in confined or controlled environments.
