We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Specialist who is also a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our pharmacy team. This role is critical to ensuring the accurate management tracking and replenishment of medications and supplies. The ideal candidate will combine pharmacy knowledge with inventory expertise to support optimal patient care reduce waste and maintain regulatory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management
Monitor track and maintain optimal inventory levels for prescription medications OTC products and pharmacy supplies.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Utilize pharmacy software and inventory systems to document and track transactions.
Forecast medication usage trends and adjust ordering patterns accordingly.
Ordering & Receiving
Prepare and place orders with wholesalers and vendors based on PAR levels and historical usage.
Receive and verify shipments ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
Manage backorders recalls and shortages; communicate updates to the pharmacy team.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate records in accordance with federal state and board of pharmacy regulations.
Ensure proper storage for all medications including refrigerated controlled and hazardous drugs.
Support DEA and board of pharmacy audits with complete documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with pharmacists and technicians to identify and resolve inventory issues.
Train or assist team members in inventory procedures and best practices.
Communicate proactively about low stock expirations and substitutions.
Automation Integration
Participate in learning and supporting inventory-related operations of the Parata compliance packaging system.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting with at least 1 year focused on inventory management preferred.
Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g. PioneerRx QS/1 Rx30).
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Knowledge of DEA and state pharmacy regulations related to controlled substances and inventory.
Experience with perpetual inventory systems and cycle counting.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
This role operates onsite in an independent pharmacy setting at our Carolina Park location. One of the companys primary functions is to provide patients with the type of medication they need. Because of this you may be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in pharmacy compounding. Its important to understand the risks associated with handling hazardous chemicals hazardous drugs and hazardous compounded preparations. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven with a strong emphasis on accuracy and patient safety. The position may involve standing for extended periods lifting boxes and working with refrigeration units.
