The Occupational Health Nurse helps deliver programs and services that develop and maintain healthy and safe workplace environments for employees. Working under close supervision this role focuses on promotion and restoration of health prevention of illness and injury and protection from occupational and environmental hazards for the organizations employees.
Responsibilities
Helps assess the needs of the employee population and identifies primary secondary and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health and prevent injuries and illnesses. Documents assessments treatments outcomes work and disability status screenings and educational offerings in a thorough manner. Assists with health screenings and health assessments (post-offer physical exams wellness screenings audiometric testing vision screening bloodborne pathogen exposure care and follow up drug screening) to identify and monitor risks to the employees health. Offers health promotion incentives and educational materials to promote employee health and wellness. Communicates appropriate health information to the organization in a timely and professional manner i.e. work-related injury information return to work status laboratory tests and drug screen results. Maintains clear and concise employee health records to meet the requirements of the department the company and any applicable standards or laws. Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of employee health information and health records. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing Preferred: Bachelors degree in Nursing
EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
