Senior Industrial Designer, Last Mile Design Engineering

Are you ready to transform how Last Mile delivery stations are designed Were looking for a Senior Industrial Designer to lead the end-to-end user experience strategy across our Design Engineering tools and data infrastructure. Your primary focus will be our core design engineering solution: a software-based solution that has transformed how we design delivery stations by automating complex calculations centralizing design attribute data and enabling data-driven decisions. As we continue to evolve our delivery network with new automation equipment operational processes and functions our design engineering tools must adapt and scale to support these advances.

As the Senior Industrial Designer youll own the holistic design strategy for our engineering toolset ensuring our solutions evolve alongside network innovations. Youll shape how engineers interact with our suite of engineering tools from online design requirement checklists to analysis dashboards creating intuitive experiences that enhance productivity and enable rapid adoption of new capabilities. Were looking for an experienced design leader who can envision and create intuitive interfaces for complex engineering workflows while designing adaptable systems that accommodate new equipment and processes. Youll ensure our tools evolve to support emerging delivery station innovations such as new automation equipment updated safety standards or changes to operational processes by designing interfaces and workflows that make these changes seamless for our engineers.

Key job responsibilities
Lead the design strategy and user experience for our core engineering design requirements system and related tools
Design and validate user interfaces for engineering calculations and data entry ensuring solutions adapt to new operational requirements
Research and document how engineers interact with our tools maintaining strong relationships with users to understand their evolving needs
Lead design discussions and reviews with engineers and stakeholders to build alignment on priorities and approach
Define clear design requirements and success criteria based on user research and operational needs
Partner with operations teams to understand new delivery station equipment and processes ensuring our tools evolve accordingly
Develop and maintain consistent design patterns and standards across our engineering applications
Create comprehensive design documentation specifications and training materials
Collaborate with developers to refine interface specifications and ensure design intent is maintained during development
Partner with BI Engineers to ensure dashboard interfaces meet user needs
Drive consistent user experience across global regions as we expand
Mentor junior designers and contribute to team growth


A day in the life
Youll spend your day collaborating with Design Engineers to understand their workflows partnering with operations and engineering teams to learn about new innovations and working with development team members to implement solutions. Youll lead design reviews conduct user testing sessions and iterate on designs based on feedback. Youll create design requirements for new features mentor team members on user research techniques and ensure tools remain effective as our delivery network evolves. Your strategic leadership will help our engineering teams work more efficiently as we expand to provide worldwide parity in tools processes and data for the Design Engineering team.

Bachelors degree in industrial design or related field
5 years experience in industrial design

Experience leading design for complex technical systems or workflows
Track record of translating user research into successful design solutions
Expertise in rapid prototyping and design validation methods
Demonstrated ability to drive design standards across multiple applications
Experience mentoring designers and leading design reviews
Strong understanding of engineering processes
History of successful collaboration with development teams
Experience designing solutions that adapt to changing business requirements
Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design approach for technical users
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
