TITLE: School Improvement Specialist
DEPARTMENT: School Leadership Development
JOB STATUS: Teacher on Special Assignment
POSITIONSUMMARY:
The SchoolImprovement Specialist will serve as a coach for district Priority and/or Focus Schools identified under the Ohio Department ofEducation guidelines. This position will serve the following elementary schools:Innis Maize and Salem.
ESSENTIALDUTIES:
The SchoolImprovement Specialist will provide coaching and curricular support to three SQIG grantfunded schools for target areaExcellent Educators and Instructional Practices. The duties will include but are not limited to the following areas:
Assess specific building needs and support schools in the development of a schoolimprovement actionplan using data
Support teachers instructional coaches and TBTs in the implementation of the Ohio ImprovementProcess (OIP)
Coach building level instructional coaches to effectively supportclassroom teachers and TBTs in the implementationof literacyand/or math strategies
Providejob-embedded instructional supportto individual teachersTeacher Based Teams (TBTs) and Building LeadershipTeams (BLTs)
Deliverprofessional development to teachers in a variety of areasincluding but not limited to:instructional strategies assessment development Ohio State Assessments and deconstructing the standards
Collaborate with teachers teams administrators external partners district departments and community partners
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrate knowledge of the necessary work of priority and focusschools
Work with schools to use data to inform and guide instructional practices in order to increase student achievement
Engage with staff to design job-embedded professional development aligned to building school improvement
plans
Provide support to schools in integrating district initiatives into the school improvement process
Support the implementation of innovative practices and programs in schools
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess valid Ohio Teaching licensure appropriate for level (ES MS HS)
Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience in an urban setting
Knowledge of effective literacy and math practices for elementary andmiddle schoolstudents
Knowledge of NWEA/MAP iReady Achieve 3000
