The primary role is to ensure timely and accurate application of premium receivables to maximize Markels cash flow. It includes responsibility for follow-up with agents/customers on questions involving specific payments in order to facilitate application. This associate will be responsible for reconciling daily deposits applied to cash received via various sources and channels.

Job Description

  • Receives and applies payments daily from agents/brokers/customers based on supporting documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Accurately reconciles daily deposits/payments to supporting documentation to ensure appropriate application of payment and timely cash reporting
  • Validates and reconciles intercompany funds.
  • Seek to find improvements with applying payments more efficiently. Attempt to use auto-application functionality where possible.
  • Communicates timely and effectively with producers and other customers (internal/external) in order to meet service level standards.
  • Collaborates with internal parties agents/customers to ensure appropriate cash movement between companies and appropriate application of payments received.
  • Supports Operational Accounting and Reporting Treasury and Disbursements teams in handling and reporting cash related transactions. Provides backup and assistance to fellow associates when business needs dictate.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • College Degree or relevant experience required
  • General accounts receivable knowledge with a minimum of 1 year accounts receivable experience preferred
  • P&C Insurance background preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong team player
  • Flexibility and attention to details
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement

Please note: Markels phased approach for re-entry into our buildings is designed to balance the ongoing health safety and well-being of our employees with operational considerations and regulatory/governmental requirements and recommendations. As a result we implemented a hybrid return to work strategy that allows for three days in the office every week.

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education job-relevant experience training licensure demonstrated competencies geographic location and other factors.
