Description

NIs R&D Center in Dresden Germany works in the field of wireless communications a fast paced and dynamic environment. Our special focus is on software and hardware development that is used both for prototyping and testing of 5G and 6G communications systems!

We are hiring an entry-level Digital Hardware Engineer to join our Digital SDR team in the RF division of Product R&D. As a Digital Hardware Engineer you will enjoy challenging work and the unique opportunity to take ownership of your products and be involved in all aspects of the product development cycle including design prototyping development testing and manufacturing production.

In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary hardware engineering teams to develop products.
Design FPGA firmware including logic implementation data movement and analysis testbenches compilation and timing analysis.
Design Digital board level hardware including schematic entry layout guidelines signal integrity simulations and prototype validation.
Develop and implement plans for prototype hardware bring-up and board level validation.
Develop register maps and generate documentation to ensure clear design intent to the broader project team.

For this Role You Will Need:
Master of Science / Dipl.-Ing. degree or equivalent experience in Electrical / Communications Engineering Information Technology Computer Science or similar
Experience in synchronous design elements including flip-flops timing diagrams and state machines
Thorough working knowledge of:
Programmable logic design including VHDL Verilog or SystemVerilog and synthesis and design simulation techniques
Computer architectures and interfaces
Sequential and combinatorial logic
Basic memory technologies and processor interfaces
Fundamental knowledge of analog design fundamentals
Working knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python C C LabVIEW assembly language)
Passionate in continuous learning and working with digital analog and computer technologies
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Team oriented and self-organized working style
Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Experience with USRPs
Experience in debugging clocking architecture
