DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders ages 10-21 who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohios 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS youth are engaged in programming that is designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole.

DYS is seeking a Labor Relations Officer 2 to oversee labor relations functions. The ideal candidate will be a skilled problem-solver with strong communication abilities and a passion for fostering positive workplace environments.
The duties of the Labor Relations Officer 2 include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the scheduling holding & processing all step two grievances: investigates grievances & recommends resolution; follows up on resolution when required as directed; counsels employees regarding problems associated with their employment; maintains applicable records & participates in managing statistics & other related information.
24 mos. exp. in collective bargaining which included labor relations & handling of grievances.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in human resources management or public or business administration that included coursework in human resources or labor relations.
-Or 12 mos. exp. as Labor Relations Officer 1 63471.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Job Skills: Labor Relations
The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check that includes results from BCI & FBI. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must complete a mandatory 6 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at CJCF weeks 2 through 4 are held at DYS Training Academy in Orient Ohio Monday through Thursday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Weeks 5 - 6 are on the job training held at CJCF.
