This is an internal recruitment open to all current regular trial service and limited duration employees of Multnomah County who are in paid status on approved leave or on an active recall list.

The Facility Security Unit (FSU) Training Coordinator will provide advanced level professional oversight and will serve as a subject matter expert on highly complex training programs administered by the Facility Security Unit including new hire instruction and on-boarding new employees across all four divisions of the Sheriffs Office. You will administer the FSU Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) for trial service employees provide instruction and certify new Field Training Officers (FTOs) across all divisions in the agency as a DPSST certified FTEP instructor. You will serve as a subject matter expert for the agency in the application use and maintenance requirements of the FTEP program utilized by all uniform staff (recruitment training certification and supervision of FTOs). You will help coordinate in-service training including various internal trainings across multiple divisions.
This position focuses on creating coordinating and implementing training strategies to support new and ongoing staff development to further the mission of the Sheriffs Office in a way that is inclusive consistent measurable and equitable.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Act as the primary driver and designated spokesperson (subject matter expert) for the FSU Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).
- Ensure program standards are met provide highly specialized technical direction and support to Field Training Officers (FTOs) and recruit Facility Security Officers (FSOs).
- Maintain all training documentation provide strategic analysis and support to management in recommending and implementing policies guidelines and procedures prepare reports and recommend further action directly to the FSU Manager.
- Complete complex scheduling for FTOs and recruits based on the training and operational needs of the Unit. Evaluate and recommend adjustments to the training program that reflect changes in legislation case law best practices and the evolving nature of a diverse workplace.
- Provide and ensure all certification requirements are achieved and maintained.
- Recruit train and provide continuing education to develop FTO staff.
- Provide resources to FTOs and recruits to ensure complete training is delivered to meet program standards.
TO QUALIFY:
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience volunteering education and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant.
Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
- At least two (2) years of increasingly responsible work as a Facility Security officer or 2 years of supervisory work in a law enforcement or correctional setting that includes security screening and bail operations.

- Background in Adult Learning
- Experience as a workplace trainer or evaluator

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Salary: $42.71-52.58 hourly
Type of Position: Hourly overtime eligible represented by the AFSCME Local 88 union.
Schedule: The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm to start. Alternative schedule options such as 4x10s may be available after a training period has been completed.
Work Location: The Multnomah County Courthouse1200 SW 1st Ave Portland OR 97204
Telework: Ad Hoc telework (occasionally working from home) may be available for this position after an on-sight training period has been completed. The incumbent should expect to work on-sight majority of the time.
