Certified Surgical Tech - Cardiovascular Operating Room

Certified Surgical Tech candidates for the Cardiovascular Operating Room will have the following job responsibilities:
- The Certified Surgical Technologist - CVOR functions under the supervision of the unit Clinical Nurse Coordinator and performs tasks assisting surgeons in the preparation and handling of instruments scopes supplies and equipment during interventional operative cases specifically cardiovascular.
- Is responsible for maintaining sterility of the operative environment and holding others accountable to the same
- Observes all universal protocol requirements and surgical technologist standards of care
- Cares for patients from neonate to geriatric

Certified Surgical Tech candidates for the Cardiovascular Operating Room must meet the following minimum job qualifications:
- CVOR requires open heart and cardiovascular experience
- Shift: 4-10 Hour Shifts OR 3-12 Hour Shifts (depending on department needs)
- CST Certification required
- Cardiothoracic experience is okay as long as the candidate has done open-heart cases
- On-call requirement is 1 day a week and 1 weekend per month
- Graduate from high school or equivalent program
- Graduation an accredited school of surgical technology or completion of a training program for surgical technologists administered by the US Public Health Service Army Navy Air Force Marine Corps or Coast Guard required
- Must have obtained surgical tech certification from a nationally recognized certification board prior to hire and will maintain certification without lapse throughout duration of employment
- Current basic life support certification
- Experience in an acute care setting and main operating room
- Experience in CVOR and open heart cases is required
- Complies with hospital employee health infection control and safety management programs
