Job Description

About the Role
The Sanitation Manager ensures that all sanitation activities within the food manufacturing facility meet or exceed regulatory standards. This role is critical in maintaining a clean safe and compliant production environment which directly supports food safety quality assurance and operational efficiency. Keywords: food sanitation management SSOPs sanitation compliance food safety leadership cleaning protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute daily sanitation operations across production warehouse and equipment areas
  • Develop implement and maintain sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) in alignment with GMP and HACCP guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations from USDA FDA OSHA and third-party audit standards
  • Select train and supervise sanitation staff and third-party cleaning vendors
  • Oversee use and storage of cleaning chemicals ensuring correct concentrations and safety compliance
  • Conduct routine sanitation audits and inspections identifying and correcting potential risks
  • Maintain detailed sanitation documentation for traceability and audit readiness
  • Collaborate with production and QA to minimize cross-contamination and maintain allergen control
  • Support root cause analysis of microbiological issues and assist with corrective actions

Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of sanitation management experience in food processing or food manufacturing
  • Familiarity with sanitation chemicals equipment and PPE protocols
  • Strong knowledge of FDA USDA HACCP GMP and OSHA sanitation standards
  • Excellent leadership organizational and communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelors degree in food science microbiology or related technical field
  • Certified Professional Food Safety (CP-FS) or equivalent certification
  • Experience leading sanitation programs in ready-to-eat or allergen-sensitive environments
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Familiarity with food safety auditing frameworks such as SQF or BRC
