Job Description
Manages and plans all Materials-related functions including Purchasing Production Scheduling Inventory Control and Global Sourcing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing and inventory control functions to meet on-time delivery goals and other company metrics (quality delivery cost).
- Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments according to job order priorities and material availability.
- Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Compute the amount of material required to complete job orders.
- Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory in-process production reports and status and location of materials within the ERP/MRP system.
- Provide support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Utilize Kanban and other Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve inventory turns and total working capital management.
- Work closely with other departments such as Engineering Sales and Manufacturing on new product development and other related projects.
- Review visual schedules and related information to coordinate the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
- Conduct FAS (Final Assembly Schedule) meetings with sales (frequency to be determined by Materials Manager and Business Unit Manager).
- Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 4 Years Materials Management Experience as a Purchasing Agent Planner/Scheduler Planner/Buyer or Master Scheduler in a manufacturing environment (preferably machining).
APICS (CPIM and CPM) certifications preferred. - Prior knowledge of and experience with continuous improvement tools (lean manufacturing techniques rate-based planning Kanban replenishment etc.) is preferred.
- Prior experience in low-volume metalworking CNC & manual machine shop environments is preferred.
