Job Description

Teledyne Microwave Solutions has over 50 years of experience in the design development and manufacture of sophisticated microwave/RF components and integrated assemblies for the most demanding challenges. Our products and capabilities are sought after by civilian and military organizations spanning numerous global markets including Aviation Communication Electronic Warfare (EW/ECM/CIED) Industrial Missile/UAV Radar Satcom Space and Test and Measurement. Teledyne Microwave Solutions invests heavily in research and development to maintain the ability to offer the worlds most advanced MW/RF capabilities for current and emerging challenges.

We are hiring an experienced Buyer to join the Procurement Team in our Mountain View CA location.

Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials components and subassemblies required for the manufacturing of saleable products ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and delivery standards. This role involves negotiating with suppliers managing supplier performance and implementing procurement strategies to meet business objectives. The Buyer will also support cost reduction initiatives and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure optimal supply chain performance.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity product line or supplier beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
  • Releases and manages work orders and rework work-orders
  • Responsible for parts procurement product on-time-delivery materials on-time-delivery linear shipment scheduling and processing non-conforming material
  • Responsible for sales order ship date maintenance and establishing sales order shipment dates
  • Plans schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials
  • Purchases materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels
  • Gathers quotations examines bids and makes awards
  • Develops specifications for new contract orders
  • Obtains materials components and equipment
  • Evaluates vendor reliability develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate
  • Monitors cost schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value and all other duties as assigned
  • Maintains timely control of orders amendments shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes labor or material shortages backlogs collaborating with management sales production or engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of procurement/supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply and demand planning including MRP (Material Requirements Planning) functions and ERP systems.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching evaluating and liaising with vendors)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in Excel Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business Administration Logistics Supply Chain Management or relevant field
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS compliance.
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g. CPSM CSCP)

Other Qualifications

  • Active Government Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

Salary Range:

$61600.00-$82100.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including but not limited to location education/training work experience key skills and type of position.
