Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

JOB SUMMARY


Plans promotes coordinates and evaluates programs designed to provide equal or equivalent opportunities
for individuals with permanent disabilities to participate in youth and adult recreation programs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation Parks & Recreation
Adaptive or Special Education Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy Social Work or a closely related field;
OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.


For Aquatics position: a minimum of 2 (two) years aquatic experience and a minimum of 2 (two) years
experience working with people with intellectual physical or developmental disabilities preferably in a
recreation setting. Must be CPR/AED certified and SSE or WSI certified. (Must be obtained within 3 (three)
months of hire if not current).


For Sports and Recreation: A minimum of 4(four) years of experience working with people with intellectual
physical or developmental disabilities in a recreation setting.


May also be licensed to practice therapeutic recreation in the state of Utah as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Masters Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS or MTRS) and/or possess a National Council for Therapeutic Certification (NCTRC). If licensed or with a masters degree 2 (two) years of experience may be
reduced from the minimum 4 years required.

A valid Drivers License issued by the State of Utah is required to operate a vehicle at the time of hire.
