About You
As a Veterinary Assistant youll play an important role in pets lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests to surgery assistance to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Qualifications:
- Preferred but not required: CVA (Certified Veterinary Assistant)
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal handling is a plus
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully
- Knowledge in anesthesia monitoring surgical prep & sterile technique
- Ability to stand for long periods lift up to 40 lbs and handle animals of various sizes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Team-oriented with a positive proactive attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with animals under stress or pain
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery including shaving scrubbing and positioning
- Set up surgical suites with necessary instruments and supplies
- Support surgical technicians and veterinarians during procedures as needed
- Monitor and comfort patients during recovery from anesthesia under supervision
- Clean disinfect and restock surgical rooms and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of surgical areas and treatment spaces
- Accurately label organize and restock surgical instruments and supplies
- Perform basic patient handling restraint and comfort tasks
- Support post-operative care including bathing walking and feeding as directed
- Follow all safety protocols including proper use of PPE and sanitation standards
