Responsibilities
As a Semi-Skilled Roofer you will play an essential role in ensuring the safety and integrity of roofing structures. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the installation repair and maintenance of various roofing systems including shingles metal and flat roofs.
- Preparing and cleaning workspaces to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Safely utilizing tools and equipment such as ladders nail guns roofing hammers and measuring tools.
- Collaborating with skilled roofers and the broader construction team to complete projects on time and to high quality standards.
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines on-site and reporting any risks or hazards.
- Stripping old roofing materials and preparing surfaces for new installation.
- Identifying potential roofing issues and escalating concerns to the team lead or supervisor.
- Supporting general construction tasks as needed.
Qualifications
To excel in this role we are looking for candidates who bring the following:
Required:
- Proven experience in basic construction roles or roofing tasks.
- Familiarity with roofing tools materials and safety procedures.
- Physical strength stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A safety-first attitude and commitment to following regulations.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in construction or roofing (or willingness to pursue relevant certifications).
- Ability to read and interpret project plans or blueprints.
- Experience in working with diverse roofing styles and materials.

Day-to-Day
As a Semi-Skilled Roofer your day will typically include:
- Arriving on-site promptly and attending team briefings to understand the days objectives.
- Assisting the lead roofer in laying foundations cutting materials and securing roof elements.
- Using safety harnesses and other protective equipment to ensure compliance at all times.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace handling tools with care and contributing to an efficient workflow.
- Consulting with the site manager and other team members to ensure project timelines are met.
- Replacing damaged roof sections or engaging in minor repair tasks.
- Documenting work progress and relaying any immediate concerns to the supervisor.
