About Us & the Role:LABBB Collaborative provides educational programming and support services for over 300 special needs students from over 65 districts. LABBB serves students ages 3 to 22 years old with a variety of special needs including students on the autism spectrum students with multi-handicaps pervasive development disorders developmental delays language deficits and social/emotional challenges. The LABBB community has a vision of skill-based instruction that considers the whole student from early childhood to adult living. The Speech and Language Pathology Department Head works directly under the supervision of the Program Director and acts as a member of a students multidisciplinary team in providing academic behavioral transition and therapeutic support to students throughout the day; implements direct instruction actively supervises students and ensures that the physical and emotional needs of children are being met on a daily basis.
Job Requirements:Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology with certification from the AmericanSpeech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA); Valid License/Certification to practice as an Speech and Language Pathologist in MassachusettsCertification through MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).Strong background in the use of assistive technology including augmentative and alternative and experience working with students with social emotional needs who potentially present with challenging behaviors drivers license and willingness to drive between locations during the workday.
Responsibilities:Provide direct and consultation services in accordance with the job description for a LABBB Speech and Language Pathologist to a student caseload to be determined in coordination with the supervising Program all Speech and Language Pathologists and SLPA in the referral process by reviewing the referral documents of students being considered for placement in LABBBs programs. Participate in other outreach as needed or requested to gather additional information about student caseloads and tasks to Speech and Language department staff and assure fair and equal distribution of responsibilities and hours of service delivery among members of the Speech and Language department staff and fair and equitable scheduling practices with other disciplines and staff at least quarterly with supervising Program DirectorConduct at least quarterly meetings for the departmentEstablish and maintain affiliations with graduate programs to coordinate fieldwork experience for graduate students for clinical practicum placementsProvide training for Speech and Language Pathology staff classroom staff and needed equipment supplies and curriculum and assessment materials for the Speech and Language the Program Directors with hiring of new staff by reading resumes and conducting or delegate clinical fellowship mentoring for hired staff who are in their clinical fellowship yearConduct staff evaluations of the Speech and Language staffReview educational plans involving Speech and Language services to ensure appropriate service delivery as evaluation reports completed by Speech and Language Pathologists as requested by the Speech Therapist Coordinator and/or Program DirectorMonitor assessment tools and ensure appropriate implementationMaintain familiarity with standardized tests and therapy materials and devices and to make recommendations for the acquisition of such items when they are required for servicesParticipate in the development programmatic procedures as requestedSupport students personal care needs which may include activities of daily living (ADLs) such as communication toileting feeding transferring self-care and assistance with mobility including lifting Supervise students across educational settings including at lunch and in the communityMaintain professional boundaries with staff parents and studentsMaintain licensure and professional competence by attending staff development programs and other professional activities as well as understanding and applying principles taught in training and seminars to the educational environment including de-escalation and restraint training (as required by program) etc.
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7 hour work day (times vary depending on caseload and school location)
Salary Range: $72457 to $133474 commensurate with experience and education. *2025-2026 Salary range is for school year and includes compensation for required 4-week summer program.
