Position Overview: As a Lift Mechanic Apprentice at Homewood Mountain Resort you will gain hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of our ski lifts and related equipment. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are passionate about mechanical work and eager to learn the ins and outs of lift operations. You will work closely with experienced lift mechanics to ensure that all lifts operate safely and efficiently contributing to a seamless guest experience on the mountain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance repair and inspection of ski lifts and associated systems under the supervision of a certified Lift Mechanic.
  • Learn and apply safety protocols and industry best practices in all maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues with lift systems including electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Support the installation and setup of new lift equipment and systems.
  • Document maintenance activities and report any significant issues or malfunctions to the Lead Mechanic.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment including tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to address any lift-related concerns and contribute to team goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or related coursework in mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Strong interest in mechanical work and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Previous experience in a mechanical or technical field is advantageous but not required.
