OVUU is accepting applications for a paraeducator at Neshobe Elementary School to begin working in August Paraeducator position is for the safety and development of the student within the educational Paraeducator will be responsible for supporting the student within the classroom or community setting. They must ensure the development and safety of these students in accordance with relevant federal and municipal legislation and policies. The Paraeducator will be respectful of the students and their parents and should help to keep the facilities safe and well are expected to support students in a dignified and respectful manner. Verbal and physical responses to students need to be polite courteous and morale enhancing. Trauma-informed communication and practices are utilized. It is extremely important to follow confidentiality and need to know guidelines both at work and in the community. The case manager is the first line of communication and needs to be kept abreast of the students progress and any issues that arise in supporting the student. The paraeducator can be moving from classroom to classroom supporting student(s) to be successful throughout each day. Understanding accommodations and classroom expectations is extremely important in providing student support. Communication with the special educator or classroom teacher is imperative and all interaction with staff faculty and students need to be respectful and dignified. Due to the nature of this job many interactions with a variety of students staff and faculty will occur on a daily basis. The case manager is the first line of communication and needs to be kept abreast of the students progress and any issues that arise in supporting the FUNCTIONS:ALL PARAEDUCATORS- SPED & LOCAL Receives implements and reinforces the verbal or written instructions from the special teacher and or classroom teacher. Supervises/monitors/assists students in the classroom hallways school grounds cafeteria and during recess and car/bus line (as assigned) Understanding of accommodations and classroom expectations while providing student support Assist teachers and special educators in evaluating the students progress by data collection in assigned program areas. Teachers will report progress and issues directly to the parents. Provides successful and rewarding educational experiences to children Collaborates with classroom teachers special educators administration and other members of the school community Assists in implementing lessons or programs as designed by classroom teacher or special educator Receive instructions from the classroom teacher as appropriate prior to implementing the lesson or program Actively participating in the district provided professional development opportunities at the start of the school year during early release and compliance with vector solutions mandatory training. Carries out the behavior plans as written by the professional staff. Proactively applying de-escalation techniques and transition to the crisis team as needed with continued involvement. Be familiar with emergency procedures Other duties as assigned by the school administrator Supervisor or Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
