Job Description

The University of Nevada Reno (UNR) seeks applications for two (2) part-time (approx. 20 hours per week) temporary hourly positions to administer standardized assessments to preschool children. The assessments are part of a large multi-state early intervention project aiming to enhance young childrens math skills prior to kindergarten entry. This position offers a great opportunity to gain valuable child assessment skills and experience with standardized child measures. Paid training and certification on the assessment instruments will occur in July and August 2025. Assessments will be conducted in preschools located in or near Jackson Mississippi in August and September 2025. Successful applicants will be paid for their training practice certification time spend conducting assessments and other research activities.

Current and prospective graduate students in the Jackson MS area are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Attend a multi-day training in Reno NV and virtual subsequent practice sessions to learn the assessment instruments.

  • Demonstrate the ability to administer each instrument without error by completing a certification process.

  • Administer assessments to preschool children.

  • Daily review of data for recording accuracy.

  • Performing other research-related activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. in Human Development & Family Science Child Development Early Childhood Education Education Psychology or related field.

  • Ability to pass criminal background check.

  • Valid driver license.

  • Access to a personal vehicle for transportation to the preschool sites.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel to California in mid-to-late July for training.

  • Must be available to work at least three mornings Monday through Friday per week from August through late September.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with preschool or elementary school children.
