The Role & Team

This is a unique opportunity for a Senior Scientist to directly influence the commercialisation of a breakthrough technology. Contributing to the Polyol R&D programme this role will support the scale-up of CO2 polyols and the design of new systems. Reporting to the R&D Manager you will use high-pressure reactor systems to collect data design new materials and optimise the production of CO2 polyols. Youll be based onsite as part of the R&D team at Alderley Park.

Responsibilities and day-to-day

Were a small and fast paced business where no work plans and priorities shift however in the round expect that youll be doing the following:

  • Plan and deliver robust scientific work plan to meet business needs in team technical programme.
  • Communicate key data and outcomes in a proactive timely and effective manner.
  • Work with colleagues suppliers collaborative partners and customers to support process development.
  • Deliver clear and accurate reports and maintain well documented traceable data.
  • Contribute positively to the broader team through interaction at meetings proactively helping or solving problems where required and contributing to day-to-day operations of the team and facilities.
  • Work effectively to contribute to general laboratory management programme set by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Follows safety policies & procedures and contributes to continuous improvement of health and safety practices.

About you

If youre a driven collaborative scientist comfortable with change and ambiguity who is drawn to working in a commercially focused environment with a desire to work on something that is shifting the story of CO2 wed love to hear from you. Your career will look something like the below:

  • Masters or PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Ability to design and execute experimental programmes with a commercial focus.
  • Highly collaborative and enjoys being part of a team but self-sufficient and able to work independently when needed.
  • Loves problem solving and innovating.
  • Somewhere in the region of 2-4 years laboratory experience preferably within industrial setting.
  • Experience in performing and understanding routine analysis NMR IR UV-vis. spectroscopy GPC and other chromatography.
  • Polyol experience advantageous!

What to expect the interview process

We try to keep the process as simple as possible:

  1. Screening stage 30 mins phone/video conference
  2. 1st Interview 2 hours onsite and will have two parts a) Technical including a presentation deeper dive into your technical ability and knowledge. b) Culture getting a sense of how you like to work values alignment.
  3. Final Meet the CTO.
