JOB DESCRIPTION
BGMU is seeking applicants for the position of PART-TIME Customer Service Associate (CSA).
BGMU seeks to hire individuals committed to providing superior customer service while exhibiting courtesy and professionalism. Traits that will be valued include effective listening attentiveness patience self-control clear communication skills ability to use positive language and a willingness to learn and improve.
The daily schedule for the part-time CSA is typically 11:00a to 3:00p Monday through Friday however scheduling may vary anytime between 8a to 4:45p depending on staffing requirements. Advance notice of schedule changes is provided up to two 2 weeks in advance.
The CSA processes receipts payments and customer requests for changes in service.
Duties associated with this position include:
- Use utility-specific software to perform account management functions such as researching information related to customer inquiries applying bill payments viewing usage data and communicating the Utilitys rules and regulations for customer service.
- Frequently interact directly with customers by listening and speaking resolve problems communicate customer account information and address billing questions.
- Accept payments from customers and issue receipts.
- Prioritize work by responding to incoming phone calls and in-person customer traffic first followed by administrative tasks once customers are served.
- Maintain contact with field service personnel concerning delinquent customer payments.
- Balance cash drawer daily and perform general clerical work as needed in department.
- Work in all areas of Customer Service (drive-thru phone room front counter etc.
Skills and other attributes required:
- The job requires the individual to become proficient with BGMU’s utility-specific software to research and enter information related to customer interactions.
- Must have a general knowledge of accounting principles and practices involving the handling of cash revenues.
- Ability to receive payments and make change accurately.
- Must become knowledgeable about the Utilitys Rules and Regulations for service how services are billed and the Utilitys other programs.
- Must conform to BGMU’s Dress Code Policy by presenting a neat professional appearance and demeanor.
- Must be able to multi-task communicate effectively speak clearly and professionally with customers and have a sincere concern for customer needs.
- Must have the ability to maintain poise and a friendly cooperative manner in all interactions frequently under adverse conditions.
- Requires sufficient math skills in order to add subtract multiply and divide. Requires language skills sufficient to read reports instructions and other related documents.
REQUIREMENTS
Prior utility experience in customer service. Some college or vocational school coursework in business or accounting. Bilingual skills that would support our diverse customer base.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or graduate equivalency. One 1 year of experience in cashiering or customer service is required. There are no residency requirements for this position.
