Job Description
Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Oakland CA / Rancho Cordova CA / Alpharetta GA
Work Authorization: Only U.S. Citizens Green Card Holders or H4 EADs
Job Summary
Delta Dental is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design build and implement scalable data integration solutions including data pipelines APIs and ETL workflows. This role is critical to enabling efficient data exchange across applications services microservices analytics platforms and business intelligence tools.
As a key member of the data engineering team you will collaborate with data architects application development teams business analysts and data governance groups to design and develop interfaces between cloud and on-premise platforms external systems and data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations to accommodate increasing data volume and complexity.
- Design and implement ETL workflows to integrate data from various sources into data warehouses data lakes and fit-for-purpose repositories (cloud and on-premise).
- Build scalable data APIs to deliver data as a service for microservices applications and analytics tools.
- Design and execute data migrations to support enterprise application transitions from legacy systems.
- Author functional specifications for data solutions and perform unit and integration testing.
- Conduct data analysis to identify and resolve issues ensuring high data quality and integrity.
- Collaborate on engineering project planning coordination and .
- Work with fellow engineers through the evaluation design and development phases of data integration.
- Stay current with company policies and technical practices to maintain expertise and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to the documentation and implementation of best practices in data transformation and load processes.

Required Skills & Experience
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Mathematics Statistics or a related technical discipline.
Professional Experience:
- 5 years of experience in data engineering roles.
- 5 years of experience with ETL tools and cloud platforms such as Azure Data Factory and Informatica.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with Matillion and/or Snowflake (must-have skills).
- Strong experience in SQL across relational and cloud-based databases.
- Experience with NoSQL technologies is a plus.
- Proficient in data profiling data quality metric design and data analysis.
- Experience with reference data management tools such as Informatica MDM or TIBCO EBX.
- Proven track record in building ETL solutions that ingest and transform data from disparate sources into data lakes and dimensional models.
- Experience with data virtualization ideally using TIBCO Data Virtualization.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of IT operations for high-availability environments.
