The Team
The Asset Allocation Research Team (AART) consists of 12 members in Boston Massachusetts under the leadership of the Managing Director of Research. The team leverages quantitative qualitative economic and market insights to provide robust research-based recommendations to investment teams across the Asset Management division of Fidelity Investments. With diverse backgrounds in economics finance political science engineering and math disciplines the primary focus of the research team is providing strategic and dynamic asset allocation insights for Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS) and Strategic Advisers (SAI). The team also produces thought leadership and broad asset-class positioning and insights to the broader Fidelity asset management community and to Fidelitys clients and distribution channels.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director of Asset Allocation Research the research analyst will be a primary contributor to AARTs macro research that produces active asset allocation recommendations. The analyst will play a lead role in augmenting the teams thematic asset-allocation projects and frameworks with an eye toward enhancing investment conclusions by connecting different research streams and vantage points. This includes working with other members of AART as well as collaborating with other investment professionals across Fidelitys asset management division. A strong knowledge of economics with an interest and understanding of how business and industry dynamics interact with macroeconomic trends is essential. Familiarity with global financial markets and investment analysis is critical.
The Expertise You Bring
Demonstrated understanding of economics and at least ten years of applied experience using analytical tools to develop economic/financial/investment conclusions. This includes relevant degrees (M.S. in Economics CBE preferred) with a preference for some experience working on non-U.S. economies and/or markets.
Experience translating analytical approaches into clear conclusions and connecting them to investment recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to think critically globally and across multiple dimensions.
Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate across teams.
Experience providing updates both written and verbal that communicate research conclusions.

Proven understanding of economics finance and investing and aptitude with relevant tools including programming econometrics and other market and economic data programs
