We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented AR follow-up Specialist to join our team. As an AR follow-up Specialist you will follow up on unresolved claims to collect payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make outbound calls to patients regarding outstanding medical bills.
- Provide clear and compassionate explanations of billing details payment options and account balances.
- Set up payment plans when needed following internal guidelines.
- Respond to incoming patient calls voicemails or emails about billing questions.
- Update patient records in the billing system / CRM after each interaction.
- Escalate non-responsive accounts to internal collections or external agencies per policy.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Multitask effectively while handling a high volume of patient cases and calls.
Preferred Soft Skills:
- Empathy and patience in dealing with sensitive patient financial conversations.
- Problem-solving attitude.
- Reliability and ability to meet daily call targets.
Requirements:
- Experience in medical billing follow-up patient collections or a similar customer-facing role in healthcare.
- Strong phone communication and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfort working with billing software Excel/Google Sheets or patient management systems (training can be provided).
- Excellent verbal communication skills are a must.
- Problem-solving research organization detail-oriented
- 2 years of Office experience in which problem-solving and research were major keys to success.
- Able to work independently identify patterns and make informed decisions
- Correctly identifying root causes to determine appropriate actions and outcomes
- Prior computer experience is required.
- Ability to completely and concisely summarize important details in account notes
- Medical billing certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of the PI process is a plus.
