The Department of Ophthalmology is currently seeking a full time Scientist to work at The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. The Scientist SOM supports the Universitys research goals and objectives by engaging in complex experiments and investigations in a range of areas depending on specialty and interests. Moreover an employee in this position contributes to the scientific community and promotes the Universitys reputation as a leader in the field.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Oversees research employees students and other relevant staff.
2. Authors scientific publications technical and agency reports and patent applications.
3. Assists in the development of training materials for research staff.
4. Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.
5. Prepares research proposals and funding applications.
6. Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.
8. Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
9. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Doctorate degree - Philosophy (PhD) required
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
