This position will be located at David Wade Correctional Center inHomer LA



To support and maintain technology specific to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in information technology; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology; OR

An associates degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology; OR

A bachelors degree plus one year of experience in information technology.

A bachelors degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology computer science engineering mathematics or business analytics field.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties

- Support and maintain specialized computer systems (software and hardware) designed for use for use of incarcerated individuals. This includes but is not limited to offender LAN (Local Area Network) computers applications and network components (switches etc.).

- Support and maintain Camera Systems LAN computers applications and network components (switches etc..).

- Provide maintenance troubleshooting and repair of all Technology Base Security measures (Shaker Fence Virtual Fence Technology body scanners electronic gate systems)

-This will be a strong Team supported position.


Position-Specific Details:

THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AS A PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT

or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE

OF LOUISIANA STATE GOVERNMENT (State Employee)

This position may be filled as:

  • DETAIL:The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT:Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
  • TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT:This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment should a permanent position become available the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Exams and License Requirements

  • No Civil Service Test Score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
  • Any degree certificate special license or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
    1. Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.
    2. Failure to provide your qualifying work experience may result in your application not being considered.


SALARY DEPENDENS ON LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
  • As part of a Career Progression Group vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a IT Technical Support Analyst 1 2 or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
  • The maximum salary for the IT Technical Support Analyst 3 is $78624.00 annually.
