The Assistant Produce Department Manager is responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in ordering receiving stocking merchandising and management of the Produce department. As a manager this position will be responsible for the smooth operation of the store ensuring employee accountability and up/down communication with the Produce Manager and Store Manager.
This position reports directly to the Store Manager. This is a full-time position not to exceed 40 hours each week.
Requirements
- 1 years experience in customer service
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities
- Complete tasks delegated by the Produce Manager in a timely manner.
- Order and receive for the Produce department on days the Produce Manager does not work.
- Manage a team as they stock Produce deliveries in a timely manner.
- Understand and maintain Organic certification compliance.
- Drive sales through well-merchandised displays and increase the profitability of the Produce department.
- Ensure backstock is worked consistently and accurately.
- Manage top and bottom sellers to ensure product sets stay profitable.
- Ensure department stays profitable through the use of department ledgers as a means of maintaining costs.
- Utilize feedback provided by Management and Category Manager to make changes to the department to drive sales.
- Manage a team of cashiers and stockers as they complete tasks for the Produce department and the store in general. Provide training on completing tasks to staff as well as following up to ensure compliance.
- Support the Produce Manager in preparing for and executing produce inventory.
- Regularly complete cleaning on the Produce department to ensure shelves and displays are clean and inviting at all times.
- Ensure staff are working in a safe and productive manner at all times.
- Regularly cull the Produce department to ensure products are always fresh and inviting.
- Complete audits on the Produce department to ensure operational compliance and efficiency.

This position will be required to lift up to 20 pounds often and 50 pounds occasionally. This position will often be both indoors outdoors and in a climate-controlled cooler. This position will be exposed to environments consisting of hot and cold temperatures as well as potential exposure to wind and precipitation. This position will be rarely expected to work in a freezer. This position will be expected to stand and walk often to sit and squat or kneel occasionally and to climb rarely.
