The Role
The ABC is looking for a Chief Digital Political Correspondent to deliver impactful original stories and expert analysis on federal politics and national affairs for the ABC News website app and digital platforms. You will be regularly setting the news agenda and supporting high-value coverage in line with the News strategy.
The Job
- Produce original agenda-setting news content.
- Collaborate with ABC teams nationwide to cover key national issues.
- Ensure diverse perspectives on major stories.
- Identify digital trends and help engage new audiences.
- Present breaking news and conduct interviews per ABC standards.
- Maintain strong community and expert contacts.
- Communicate with senior editors and coordinate content.
- Use analytics to improve audience engagement.
- Mentor staff and support political reporting.
- Cover stories reflecting Australias diversity.

About You
Youll have:
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Strong journalism and digital publishing skills.
- Proven ability to break federal politics news with solid contacts.
- Skilled in clear engaging digital-first content.
- Experience in political/national affairs across platforms.
- Proficient with digital media tools including field use.
- Excellent teamwork communication and commitment to diversity.
- Strong presentation skills and creativity and able to meet tight deadlines.
