Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams provides counseling and/or psychotherapy coordinates patient discharge planning complies with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within Outpatient Social Work and the Department of Care Management.

Social workers in our Neuroscience Department provide assessments emotional support counseling and facilitate support groups to help patients and families cope with the challenges of neurological condition. Additionally they assist with resource coordination including housing transportation insurance and access to community services while advocating for the patients overall well-being and quality of life. As a member of the outpatient social work team you will have access to a strong team of clinical social workers committee and special project opportunities serve as a preceptor in our internship and fellowship program and work towards obtaining academic rank. Requires a Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) degree from an accredited social work must have an advanced knowledge of mental illness personality development knowledge of the types of treatment and skills in conducting individual group and family therapy. Must have knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease. Strong communication skills are needed to interact with patients patients family members consultants residents hospital personnel community agencies and other resources. Must also have psychosocial diagnostic skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and in written (LCSW) to practice independently at the clinical level as required by applicable state requirements.
