Substitute Teacher 25-26
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Iowa Teaching Certificate Substitute License or Substitute Authorizationis required
- Ability to be available to substitute on a regular basis
- Strong classroom management skills effective communication adaptability and the ability to engage students in learning
- Regular access to phone or internet

SUPERVISES:
JOB GOAL(S):
To motivate each student to acquire the knowledge skills and principles of the days lesson. To assist in achieving no loss in student instruction time in an effort to enhance student learning promote the overall efficiency of the school system and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement lesson plans provided by the absent teacher or create effective lesson plans if none are available.
- Deliver instruction in a manner that is engaging and appropriate to the grade level and subject area.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the varying needs and learning styles of students.
- Maintain accurate complete records of student attendance and progress as needed.
- Keeps appropriate records of the days events for the classroom teachers.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback when necessary.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Enforce school policies and rules to manage student behavior effectively.
- Address any disciplinary issues promptly and in accordance with school procedures.
- Supervise students in the classroom hallways cafeteria and other school areas as needed.
- Ensure student safety at all times and report any incidents or concerns to school administration.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with students staff and administration.
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher on student performance behavior and any issues that arose during their absence.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
- Follow all school policies procedures and regulations.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance demeanor and interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the district.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the school administration.
- Maintain accurate complete records of student attendance and progress as needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a non-contract position. Substitute positions work on call as needed for various assignments/buildings throughout the district. Substitutes in good standing at the end of a school year may elect to return to their subbing position for the following school year.
Work is available daily during the 175 days of the school year.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated periodically by Substitute Services/Human Resources.
