This is a hybrid role that requires candidates to work between Palo Alto and San Ramon CA. 3 days a weeek onsite 2 days a week remote.
The Product:
The major goal of BDFS is to enable SAP Lines of Business (LoBs) and customers to enter the world of big data easily. To achieve that objective were delivering Apache Spark as a service a multi-language engine for executing data engineering data science and machine learning on single-node machines or clusters (Kubernetes in our case). Were enabling data to be consumed from multiple hyperscaler agnostic data sources using the Delta Sharing communication protocol on top of the HANA Data Lake File Service (HDLFS) an SAP-managed cloud object storage that allows storage and consumption of data without multiple layers of ETL (Extract Transform and Load) systems and intermediary data storages (Lakehouse architecture).
What youll do:
In your role as a JavaDeveloper you will be responsible for designing coding and testing cloud services in an Agile development environment. Participate in end to end software development lifecycle.
In your day-to-day your tasks will be:
- Work on design coding and quality assurance tasks of specific product features.
- Work on cloud-native development understanding microservices architectures and handling DevOps workflows.
- Work in state-of-art cloud deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Work in CI/CD tasks in a global development environment.
- Work in an agile team that uses Scrum framework to self-organize and work towards the development goals.
- Be part of a globally distributed group that has an enormous impact in the Enterprise Software industry on a global scale.
What you bring:
- Bachelors degreestudies in any of the following areas: Computer Science Systems Analysis Information Technology Mathematics Physics Engineering
- Analytical self-motivated and problem solving personality.
- Ideally you bring one year of experience in a related position but new graduates and undergraduates are welcome.
- Strong communicationboth written and spoken in English
- Professional programming experience in Java Python.
- Knowledge of Apache Spark Databricks Snowflake Cloud Technologies like Docker Kubernetes and Go a plus.
Meet your team:
- You will work on the SAP HANA Cloud Databse & Persistency team. This product helps our customers access data from anywhere. The Big Data Fabric Services team is responsible for:
- Extend and complete the SAP Data Platform with big data technologies to assistdifferent SAP Lines of Business.
- Leverage Apache Spark and Object store technology to provide scalable and cost-effective computing and storage services for big data ingestion processing and sharing.
- Integrate into SAP BTP and HANA Cloud & Data Lakehouse to offer unified development and deployment experience for different SAP Lines of Business.
- Assure multi-tenancy and secure data processing.
- In the BDFS team we have an agile and collaborative culture where knowledge sharing is fostered

Compensation Range Transparency: SAPbelieves the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAPs commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $103300 - $218600 (USD) actual amount to be offered to the successful candidatewill be within that range dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education skillsexperience scope ofthe role location etc. as determinedthrough theselection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
