Job Summary
When it comes to crisis financial and government communications and issues management you are a pro with a track record for success. You are comfortable working with senior executives the media and front-line team members. You are a confident compassionate leader who balances detail and guidance while allowing a competent team to flex their skills and autonomy. You can work independently and as part of a larger team to craft communication plans PR recommendations media statements internal messages and more. You understand the need for patient and situational privacy. Trust is required in you and from you. The pace is fast; theres rarely a dull day with 21 hospitals hundreds of medical offices and 65000 team members across Michigan. Youll work with an accomplished team and youll have the opportunity to help improve the health of our community.
The ideal candidate would reside in SE Michigan or West Michigan or be open to travel within these areas.
Essential Functions
- Develops internal and external communications in collaboration with Corewell Health leaders executives and key internal clients. (Expert Level)
- Assists director in managing corporate reputation issues. Develops positioning statements and media strategies related to issues management. (Expert Level)
- Leads with a calming demeanor especially in high pressure situations.
- Maintains a high-level of confidentiality.
- Leads a statewide team of experienced communications experts.
- Develops relationships with local regional and national media.
- Helps guide internal and external communications during issues disasters or crises in collaboration with the director. (Expert Level)
- Works collaboratively with many other system departments such as legal government affairs human resources patient relations finance etc.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the System Communications & Marketing team to achieve system goals and objectives. (Expert Level)
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors Degree Journalism English Communications Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 years of relevant related experience including 5 years experience in media relations and 3 years in leadership OR sustained performance in consultant level role internally that exceeds performance
