Description

As a Senior Geologist you will play a key role in managing and executing some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects! Our pipelines team works on a variety of transportation energy development and natural resources projects. Responsibilities include planning field exploration programs conducting technical briefings with field staff and project management tasks including budgeting and client communications. You will also be responsible for performing engineering analyses and preparing technical reports and proposals as well as conducting regular site visits attending client meetings and overseeing field explorations and construction observation services. As a project manager you will be responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects. Ensure that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist with training junior technical and technician staff.
  • Complete engineering analyses and calculations including: operating and installation stress hydraulic fracture analysis settlement and collapse potential for plastic pipe.
  • Lead the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports figures tables etc. Assist senior staff in completing portions of large complex reports figures tables etc.
  • Lead the production of construction plans and specifications for trenchless pipeline projects.
  • Lead project management tasks such as attending project meetings budget and schedule planning staffing and task assignments deliverable preparation and proposal development.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Geology required; Masters degree with a Geotechnical Engineering or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience is required. Subsurface exploration/geotechnical evaluation and trenchless design project related experience preferred.
  • At least two years of project management experience.
  • PE and/or LG license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid drivers license is required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • All candidates are subject to completing a background check and reference check.
  • All candidates are required to participate in our medical surveillance program.
  • All candidates are subject to complete drug/alcohol testing.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including use of personal protective and respiratory equipment and occasional lifting.
  • Able to perform consistent work on a PC.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed. Travel will typically not exceed 10%.
  • All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning field work.

Our best estimate of the salary range for the Senior Geologist located in Cary NC is $96000 - $144000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors including education and experience as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering subject to program eligibility requirements.
