Within the Executing unit Infrastructure Heavy Civil we have a national Rock engineering team all enthusiastic about shaping the future of urban development and infrastructure. We offer a diverse range of assignments from early stages investigations to multidisciplinary project planning construction documents and construction support.

Within the group there are rock engineers geologists and hydrogeologists.

We are currently seeking a passionate Rock engineer to join our group based in Gothenburg or Stockholm.

Make a difference in Rock engineering

As a Rock mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for providing expertise and technical support in the field of rock mechanics rock engineering and slope stability analysis. You will be joining our global team of experts and work on key projects for Scandinavian and UK market. Also you will be collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to optimize designs ensure the safe and efficient design and construction of underground and infrastructure projects.

This position offers the chance to undertake tasks on your own as well as engage with various project teams at COWI. Our assignments range from large infrastructure assignments to assignments within urban development construction technology industry and environment for both state municipal and private clients. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and skilled geotechnical field engineers. You will also be a part of a large international network of geotechnical engineers within the entire COWI group.

We work both across borders and within the local market in different business areas where we share our knowledge and build strong relationships with customers and colleagues. You contribute with your expertise while you get the opportunity to learn from the best.

Some of your key responsibilities and tasks could be to:

• Work within rock assignments from early stages to the construction phase
• Work with geological investigations analyze data and prepare reports.
• Present results and actively participate in project meetings.
• Collaborate with other disciplines within projects.
• Analyze stability of underground and surface excavations including caverns tunnels and slopes using appropriate software and analytical tools.
• Assess and provide recommendations for ground support systems rock bolting shotcrete and other reinforcement measures.
• Develop rock and geological design criteria specifications and guidelines for project implementation.
• Support project teams in the identification and management of rock mechanical risks.
• Stay tuned of the latest advancements in rock mechanics through continuous professional development.
• Implement design best practices ensure compliance with codes standards and client requirements and conduct site visits and client interactions as needed.

Qualifications

Were looking for a team player who is eager to take on challenging assignments within rock engineering assignments. As a person you are a responsive team player communicative and committed and stimulated by developing business solutions together with colleagues and customers.

To fit for the service you also need to:

• Have a relevant civil engineering degree or equivalent education
• Have at least 5 years of experience from projects within Rock engineering (if you have more experience we are also interested in hearing from you).
• Be able to speak and write fluently in Swedish and communicate well in English.
• Experience in grouting design is meritorious
