Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper to lead financial operations. This role requires expertise in reconciliation bookkeeping and accounting with strong software candidate will excel in a fully remote environment ensuring fiscal integrity through precise financial reporting audits and workflow improvements while supporting our mission to deliver sustainable environmental solutions globally. This position is paid bi-monthly.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize Odoo Enterprise v.18 to manage all financial processes demonstrating software adaptability to optimize workflows and rapidly learn system updates.
- Produce accurate monthly financial statements including Profit & Loss (Income Statement) Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows.
- Conduct monthly sales and accounting audits verifying the accuracy of costs and prices for each sale in Odoo and generate commission reports.
Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations:
- Reconcile bank accounts weekly to ensure accuracy and timely identification of discrepancies.
- Reconcile credit card statements and bank account statements monthly.
- Retroactively reconcile all 2025 financial records once current monthly reconciliations are complete.
- Input journal entries daily applying entries at the discretion of the company President to maintain accurate financial records. Apply payments to invoices and bills daily ensuring timely and accurate processing in Odoo.
- Invoice customers promptly incorporating supplier-provided costs for goods sold and shipping costs from weekly reports (USPS FedEx and third-party logistics) into sales orders invoices and bills.
- Ensure weekly Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) reports are accurate maintaining an accurate current ratio for outstanding AR AP sales orders without invoices and purchase orders without bills.
- Collaborate with Odoo developers to improve financial workflows transitioning spreadsheet-based tasks into Odoo using spreadsheets only for data import/export or as analytical tools.
- Provide strategic financial insights to leadership leveraging accounting expertise to support cost-effective sustainability-driven decisions.
- Coordinate with external auditors preparing robust documentation for audits and grant reviews while maintaining data security in a remote environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or equivalent training in Accounting is required; Master s degree or CPA preferred.
- 7 years of experience in financial administration bookkeeping or accounting with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Proven expertise in reconciliation ensuring precision across complex financial accounts in the environmental or industrial sector.
- Advanced bookkeeping skills with experience managing full-cycle accounting for organizations with global operations.
- Exceptional software adaptability with proficiency in Odoo Enterprise v.18 (or similar platforms like QuickBooks Xero NetSuite) and the ability to rapidly master new tools.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly adapting to evolving financial systems and industry-specific requirements particularly with Odoo workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations including GAAP and environmental grant compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data visualization or budgeting tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI) for data import/export.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote role.
- Experience working remotely with reliable internet access for virtual collaboration.
Preferred Skills
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation.
- Experience with grant accounting and compliance in the environmental or nonprofit sector.
- Proficiency in optimizing Odoo Enterprise or similar cloud-based financial systems for efficiency.
- Knowledge of environmental social and governance (ESG) financial reporting frameworks.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and tax preparation software tailored to environmental organizations.
