Practice Details

Clinic-based practice with hospital consults throughout the Childrens Hospital (NICU Peds
PICU) with outreach opportunities
Support Peds Coordinated Treatment Centers for diagnoses: Brain Injury Down Syndrome
Muscular Dystrophy Neurodevelopmental Myelodysplasia and Cerebral Palsy
Ability to provide botox procedures with nitrous propofol mod sedation with ARU staff and
anesthesia
Sanford Health South University Medical Center rehab unit is a 21 bed CARF accredited unit with
average daily census 17.4. We serve adolescents and adults in both general rehab and brain
injury.
Call will be one in four weekends.
Regions only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center

Job Description

Core privileges for PRM include the ability to admit evaluate diagnose and provide consultation and medical therapy to children with congenital and childhood-onset physical impairments including related or secondary medical physical functional psychosocial and vocational limitations or conditions with an understanding of the life course of disability. Physicians may also provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies. They may also assess stabilize and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have provided PRM inpatient or consultative services for at least 50 patients in the past 12 months.
OR
Applicants in PRM must be able to demonstrate current competence and an adequate volume of experience (100 patients) with acceptable results reflective of the scope of privileges requested for the past 24 months based on results of ongoing professional practice evaluation and outcomes. Evidence of current physical and mental ability to perform privileges requested is required of all applicants for renewal of privileges. In addition continuing education related to PRM should be required.

If the applicant is recently trained a letter of reference should come from the director of the applicants training program. Alternatively a letter of reference may come from the applicable department chair and/or clinical service chief at the facility where the applicant most recently practiced.

More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Applicants must have completed an ACGME program in PM&R or an accredited combined or consecutive residency training in both PM&R and pediatrics. Applicants must then complete an ACGME-approved PRM fellowship training program or complete at least three years of practice experience primarily in PRM.

Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
