JOB SUMMARY:
The Instructional Coach is a member of a school faculty and has the responsibility of working with the administration and faculty to implement district plans and best practices in instruction. The coach focuses on enhancing teacher ability to provide instruction that addresses standards engagement and rigor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OARto). The following are examples of principle duties; however any one position may not cover all duties listed and examples may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform.
- Meet with the administration on a regular basis to discuss the effective implementation of the schools goals
- Act as a resource advocate and support for all school staff and students
- Work directly with teachers and instructional assistants providing classroom demonstrations collaboration and one-on-one support to implement effective instruction
- Work with administration teachers instructional assistants and district administrators to collect analyze and interpret data to guide instructional decisions
- Help to facilitate building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Serve as an important member of the building SST designing and supporting intervention strategies in support of student and teacher success
- Facilitate and lead building and district professional learning activities
- Provide ongoing differentiated coaching to staff
- Use current body of knowledge in cultural diversity issues in teaching and curriculum development to design and adapt individual/group academic and behavior/social programs in all school settings
- Implement district and state curriculum standards and ensure that instructional activities are clearly related to district/state curriculum standards
- Maintain accurate complete and confidential records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations
- Participate in activities that are related to school functions and/or the education process that occur outside the regular workday in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement
- Perform other duties as assigned
GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedule

- Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse student parent and community populations
- Carry out work responsibilities with strong organizational skills effectively under pressure of deadlines difficult situations interruptions and new or emergency conditions
- Respect confidential information and the privacy of students staff and parents
- Collect record store retrieve assimilate organize and utilize information and records electronically and by using traditional methods
- Develop job skills necessary to meet changes in the position
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position as defined by the district
- Meet applicable district physical ability/health and safety guidelines for the position
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Valid Oregon teaching license with Math endorsement
- Minimum of five years teaching experience
- Knowledge of state and national standards
- Recognition by colleagues and community as an outstanding classroom teacher
- Strong personal literacy skills inclusive of oral and written communication
- Deep knowledge of reading writing literacy development and/or math
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of schools teachers and students
- Effective communication collaboration and interpersonal skills that carry out a common instructional focus
- Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers
- Ability to develop relationships with others by listening understanding and reserving judgment
- Experience modeling and observing classroom instruction; providing feedback to teachers
- Ability to model the characteristics of a reflective professional who monitors and evaluates ones own professional activities with the goal of continual growth and development
- Knowledge of best practices relating to assessment
- Experience in analyzing data to plan for instruction
- Ability to support teachers in the development of differentiated lessons
- Ability to support teachers in the development of differentiated instruction
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills

- This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings although some outdoor instruction and supervision may be required
- This position involves working in close proximity to groups of students and adults

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Boards policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
