The St. Johns Rehab Research Program is seeking a post-doctoral fellow for a one-year contract to work under the supervision of Dr. Amanda L. Mayo (Chief St. Johns Rehab and Affiliate Scientist Sunnybrook Research Institute) and Dr. Sander Hitzig (Program Research Director St. Johns Rehab Research Program) to support lines of research with regard to digital workflows and the fabrication of 3D printed prosthetics and orthotics for limb loss burns and trauma patients.
The duties will include but are not limited to: working with the clinical team at both the St. Johns Rehab campus and the Sunnybrook Centre for Independent Living (Bayview Campus) to evaluate and design digital workflow manufacturing approaches for Prosthetic and Orthotic (P&O) devices (e.g. materials testing) and patient outcomes (e.g. usability satisfaction). This may include:
The successful candidate will have an outstanding research track record during their PhD as evidenced by published high impact work in the fields of biomedical or mechanical engineering computer science rehabilitation and/or prosthetics and orthotics. Knowledge or experience using computer aided design (CAD)/computer aid manufacturing (CAM) software 3D printing (Multi-jet Fusion FDM) and digital workflows and knowledge regarding prosthetics and orthotics would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
